Emulsifier-free facial care – The plant fiber concept
Why do emulsifiers harm the skin?
Natural cosmetic creams, ointments and lotions usually contain emulsifiers based on esterified vegetable fatty acids. Emulsifiers combine water-soluble and oily components to form a stable emulsion. However, emulsifiers also have undesirable side effects:
washout effect
Emulsifiers also continue to emulsify within the skin, depositing themselves there and dissolving the protective skin barrier. The dissolved skin's own lipids of the protective layer are then washed out of the skin upon subsequent contact with water (wash-out effect). As a result, the skin is less and less able to retain moisture. The skin dries out increasingly and is more prone to irritation, itching and redness.
Weakened immune defense of the skin
Pollutants and bacteria from outside can penetrate through the porous barrier layer into deeper layers of the skin. As a result, the skin becomes susceptible to blemishes, blackheads, pimples and acne.
Premature skin aging
Due to the long-term dissolution of the skin's own lipid protective substances and dehydration of the skin, the tissue becomes slack and wrinkles appear prematurely.
skin-identical lipid structures
All myrto products do not contain conventional emulsifiers. Our innovative emulsifier-free skin creams are skin-identical in their structure. We have developed our so-called DMS creams (DMS = Derma Membrane Structure) with a lamellar lipid structure especially for sensitive and problematic skin. Instead of conventional emulsifiers, we use skin-analogous plant phospholipids (INCI: Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine). These lipids are part of every human cell membrane and have the same lamellar structure as the skin barrier. They are therefore ideal for rebuilding a damaged skin barrier.

In addition, we use purely natural, finely ground fruit fibers made from pectin in our formulations to stabilize the creams. Pectin is a moisturizing natural ingredient that acts as a natural thickener and holds the oily and watery parts of our recipes together like a grid (physical instead of chemical bond). Pectin forms a thin, breathable protective film on the skin, which further improves the moisture retention of the skin's own protective layer.
At the same time, the potent natural ingredient beta-glucan from oats penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin with its protective, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Beta-glucan has been proven to stimulate the formation of tissue-tightening collagen. It binds moisture in the skin intensively and for a long time. Studies show that beta-glucan from oats, with a molecular weight of around 800 kDa, binds around 400% more moisture than hyaluronic acid of the same molecular size. The moisture is also stored in the skin for significantly longer.
Advantages of the emulsifier-free plant fiber concept
- All active ingredients are transported deep into the skin with their full active content, where they protect the cell tissue from oxidative damage and stimulate the formation of new cells.
- The plant fibers form a thin, breathable protective film on the skin with a slightly firming skin feel. They minimize water loss through the skin.
- Beta-glucan strengthens the protective skin barrier, inhibits inflammation and improves moisture retention in the skin.
- External irritants are repelled so that impurities, blackheads and pimples do not even occur (improved immune protection).
Our emulsifier-free plant fiber concept has proven itself not only for highly sensitive, mature or combination skin - but also for skin problems such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis or neurodermatitis. Emulsifier-free skin creams help to bring the skin back into its natural balance. They ensure healthy, long-term firm, soft and clear skin.
