Why daily facial cleansing is essential
For healthy and well-cared-for skin, a good facial cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine. Its importance is often underestimated, but it is the basis for freeing the skin of dirt, excess sebum and pollutants - especially when wearing make-up or sunscreen. Even for skin types without blemishes and spots, daily cleansing is essential, as facial skin is sensitive to environmental influences such as heat, cold, UV rays and pollutants.
The functions of a daily facial cleansing
Careful facial cleansing fulfills numerous important functions:
- Remove dirt and residue
In the evening, make-up, environmental pollutants and excess sebum are thoroughly removed. In the morning, cleansing frees the skin of sweat and sebum that have built up overnight. - preparation for care
Clean skin absorbs care products better and maximizes their effectiveness. - strengthening the skin barrier
Proper cleansing supports the skin barrier and preserves the acid mantle.
Can facial cleansing with water alone be enough?
Excessive cleaning with aggressive products can damage the skin just as much as inadequate cleaning. For normal skin with no special needs, plain water can indeed be sufficient. But pure water does not remove oily residues such as sebum or sunscreen. For oily and combination skin, as well as for those with make-up or sunscreen, mild cleaning products are the better choice.
Important characteristics of a good cleanser
- skin-neutral pH value
The cleanser should have a pH value between 5.0 and 5.5 to preserve the skin's acid mantle. Alkaline soaps, on the other hand, weaken the skin barrier and promote dryness. - Without aggressive surfactants
Surfactants such as sodium coco sulfate can irritate the skin. Cleansers containing surfactants with washing-active amino acids are much more skin-friendly. They do not dry out the skin and provide additional moisture. - No unnecessary additives
Fragrances, alcohol and preservatives can irritate sensitive skin. - emulsifier-free formulations
Emulsifiers dissolve the body's own fats, which dries out the skin and makes it more susceptible to germs.
Cleansing Oil: The gentle cleansing step
A cleansing oil gently removes dirt and excess sebum without attacking the skin's own protective layer. The principle "Similia similibus solvuntur" (like dissolves like) describes the method in which greasy dirt is removed using oil. Our Deep Cleansing Oil offers a mild, surfactant-free cleansing and at the same time supplies the skin with valuable plant oils such as almond, avocado, jojoba and babassu oil, which bind moisture and soothe the skin.
Cleansing gel: For oily and impure combination skin
The Deep Cleansing Gel cleanses deep into the pores, removes excess sebum and gives the skin a matte appearance. With nourishing organic aloe vera gel and moisturizing betaine from sugar beet, the cleansing gel stabilizes the skin barrier and protects the skin from drying out.
Double Cleansing: Intensive care for evening cleansing
Double cleansing combines cleansing oil and gel: First, the cleansing oil removes stubborn make-up and sunscreen, before the cleansing gel thoroughly removes excess sebum and dirt. This method is ideal for evening cleansing, while a cleanser alone is often sufficient in the morning.
Emulsifier-free cleansing creams: perfect for sensitive skin types
The myrto Cleansing Creams offer gentle cleansing without irritating additives such as alcohol or fragrances. Their few but high-quality ingredients make them particularly well tolerated. They contain antioxidant beta-glucan from oats, which strengthens the skin barrier and binds moisture deeply.
