skin care routines in autumn
After the long summer months, the days become noticeably shorter and the sun's rays become noticeably less warm. The leaves on the trees turn bright colors before the stormy autumn wind sweeps the red, yellow and brown leaves from the branches - an unmistakable sign that nature is preparing for the cold, dark season. While we snuggle up in warm wool sweaters, our skin also longs for additional protection and rich care.
Moisturizing serums, active ingredient concentrates and lotions with light textures like in summer are no longer enough. In the colder months, our skin needs additional lipids/fats, especially face and body oils, anhydrous balms and richer creams that strengthen the skin barrier and minimize moisture loss.
Challenges for the skin in autumn
Winter temperatures, wind and heated air dry out the skin. They attack the protective skin barrier. As a result, the skin can no longer retain sufficient moisture. This leads to increased feelings of tightness, flaky or cracked skin, redness and itching. Wrinkles and premature skin aging are also among the consequences. If the skin barrier is weakened, bacteria and viruses can penetrate the skin more easily, making it easier for blemishes and pimples to appear.
Strengthen the skin barrier
The most important thing for your skin care in autumn and winter is high-quality, skin-like lipids such as shea butter and active ingredients such as beta-glucan or phosphatidylcholine, which rebuild and strengthen your skin barrier. In order to keep your skin healthy and youthfully firm for as long as possible, it is important to understand and respond to your skin's individual needs, which change depending on the season.
You yourself are the best judge of when your skin no longer needs just a light facial serum, but also a richer facial cream and/or facial oil that suits your skin's needs. Since the individual basic structure of your skin remains the same in all seasons, you don't have to completely change your skincare routine every time, you just need to adjust it slightly depending on the season.

Our facial care tips for autumn
Gradual transition
After light moisturizing in the summer, you can gradually supplement your care routine in the autumn with products rich in fat and oil, for example with the deep-cleansing Cleansing Oil or the slightly richer care line for dry and mature skin.
Gentle facial cleansing
Your facial cleanser should be free of harsh surfactants and alcohol, which unnecessarily degrease your skin and weaken the skin barrier.
Soothing Face Mask
If your skin is dry, irritated or inflamed from the long months of sun, you should treat it to a soothing cream face mask once a week. The Regenerate Soothing Mask without emulsifiers is ideal for this (see photo). It contains skin-tightening grape seed oil, beta-glucan for a strong skin barrier and powerful antioxidants from acai berries and sea buckthorn.
water-free facial balm
As the wind gets colder and the temperature drops, our skin can no longer produce enough oil. It tends to become dry and cracked. The perfect solution is the Bio Amaranth Face Balm. With its moisturizing, skin-like lipids and moisturizing ingredients, the balm gives dry skin what it needs most in the cold months.
Natural facial oils
Pure natural facial oils also have a cell-protecting, smoothing and regenerating effect – either applied over your facial cream or over a facial serum instead of a cream.
We hope that with our tips you will find your optimal autumn skin care routine that will help your skin to rebuild its protective lipid barrier – for long-term healthy and beautiful skin.
