White clay (kaolin)
White mineral clay (kaolin)
Kaolin or white clay is a finely ground mineral clay with a high proportion of kaolinite. The naturally occurring silicate compound was formed many millions of years ago during the Ice Age. Rocks were ground into the finest particles under the influence of water and wind in glaciers. White clay has been used since time immemorial for the gentle care of dry and sensitive skin. It is rich in minerals such as silica, zinc, calcium and magnesium. It gently removes impurities and dissolves dead skin and blackheads.
Kaolin cleanses the skin extremely gently, absorbs excess skin oil, mattifies the complexion, has a healing and mild disinfectant effect. In naturopathy, kaolin is used both externally and internally for detoxification. The white clay we use comes from the French Provence. It is mined there in natural deposits, cleaned and dried under the blazing sun.
