Grape seed oil (Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil) - controlled organic cultivation

Grape seed oil is one of the most valuable local oils with a wide range of benefits for the skin. The valuable oil is extracted from the hard seeds with great effort. The seeds only contain around 10 to 14% oil, so the yield is very low. More than 40 kg of grape seeds are needed to produce 1 liter of cold-pressed grape seed oil.

The organic quality of the grape seed oil that we use for our myrto natural cosmetics is very important. This is because the valuable antioxidants such as OPC or resveratrol only form in large quantities when the plant's immune system has been strengthened by natural challenges - in other words, when the plant has been confronted with pests, pathogens or stress factors against which it has successfully defended itself. Organic grape seed oil therefore contains many more of the highly effective antioxidants than conventional grape seed oil.

The strengthening power of grape seeds was already known more than 5000 years ago. In the ancient wine-growing regions of Egypt, Greece and the Roman Empire, winemakers not only made delicious wine from the grapes. The health-promoting effect of grape seed oil (Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil) with its pomace-like, nutty and fruity scent was also well known. It was dripped onto the skin as a luxurious anti-aging agent. The healing powers of grape seed oil were also used to treat small wounds.

Which skin type is grape seed oil suitable for?

Cold-pressed grape seed oil is ideal for impure, oily or combination skin, but also for dry and mature skin.

Active ingredients in cold-pressed grape seed oil

• Linoleic acid for a strengthened skin barrier
  Cold-pressed grape seed oil contains around 90% unsaturated fatty acids, including a high proportion of cell-protecting linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is a main component of ceramides, a group of important membrane lipids and an essential component of the skin barrier; it cannot be produced by the body itself. Linoleic acid prevents excessive keratinization of the skin and improves sebum flow. Linoleic acid helps with impure skin, acne, neurodermatitis or psoriasis. Linoleic acid also ensures finer pores and reduces hyperpigmentation.
• OPC for smoothed, tightened skin structure
  The natural active ingredient OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidin) is a flavonoid and one of the secondary plant substances in grape seed oil. OPC is one of the most effective antioxidants of all. Its antioxidant potential is many times higher than that of vitamin E (factor 20) or vitamin C (factor 50), which are also contained in the oil. OPC has the ability to promote collagen production, bind to the elastin and collagen in the skin tissue, stabilize it and repair it. Grape seed oil smoothes the skin structure and improves skin elasticity. OPC promotes the activity of skin enzymes, improves the skin's UV protection and protects mature skin from damage caused by free radicals.
• Resveratrol for skin protection & reduced wrinkle depth
  Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant polyphenol and a component of cold-pressed grape seed oil. Resveratrol fights free radicals, increases the skin's resistance to cell-damaging environmental influences (anti-pollution), protects skin cells from damage caused by UV radiation and short-wave blue light emitted by PC screens (anti-blue light effect). Resveratrol ensures visibly smoother, denser skin. It tightens and improves skin quality in a natural way. In vitro experiments have shown that resveratrol extends the lifespan of cells. In addition to a variety of anti-aging effects and improved moisture supply, resveratrol also relieves inflammatory skin problems such as psoriasis and acne.
