Olive Oil (Olea Europaea Fruit Oil) - Controlled organic cultivation

The evergreen olive tree can live for over 1000 years. It has an unmistakably gnarled trunk and silvery shimmering leaves. Olive trees are extremely undemanding. They grow on stony soil and can withstand dry periods, heat and lack of water. Since ancient times, the olive tree has been a symbol of peace, fertility and hope. It grows very slowly. It takes around 10 to 15 years for an olive tree to produce its first harvest. The olives are covered with a thin skin and contain the oil-rich pulp.

Best organic quality from a small family business from Crete

Depending on the harvesting method and the process of oil extraction, different oil qualities are distinguished. The single-variety Koroneiki olive oil we use from Crete is purchased directly from the producer. It has the "extra virgin" quality class. It is produced exclusively using organic farming methods. According to scientific standards, the Koroneiki olive is considered the world's best fruit variety for olive oil. The oil is has been produced with passion and love for 3 generations in a small family business. Around 30% of the trees are more than 500 years old. The olives are harvested, peeled and pitted by hand. The pulp is then ground and cold-pressed at moderate pressure and at temperatures of up to 27 degrees Celsius. This preserves the oil's natural ingredients with their characteristic aromatic properties. The color of high-quality olive oil is between light yellow and slightly golden green. A dark green color of the oil indicates that it was heat-treated during pressing, and is therefore a sign of inferior quality.

The healing and strengthening powers of olive oil have been used by people since ancient times. In skin care, olive oil has proven to be particularly effective for dry, brittle and irritated skin. Virgin olive oil supports the regeneration of cells, promotes healthy circulation and soothes itchy, irritated skin.
