Skin Care Routine for Redness & Rosacea
In our first article, we explained what rosacea is, how you can recognize this skin disease and distinguish it from redness or couperose, what causes it and which facial care is recommended for rosacea.
In this second article, we give you some important tips to find the right skin care routine for redness or rosacea:
-
Avoid comedogenic ingredients
Watch out for comedogenic ingredients in your cosmetics, as they can clog your pores and make your skin look rough. These include mineral oils such as paraffins, silicones and Vaseline, PEG-based emulsifiers and fatty alcohols. There are also comedogenic ingredients in natural cosmetics, such as lanolin (wool fat), wool wax alcohol, olive oil, coconut oil, wheat germ oil or cocoa butter. -
Avoid emulsifiers
What is little known: The emulsifiers, co-emulsifiers and consistency agents commonly used in natural cosmetics, such as glyceryl stearate, isopropyl palmitate, cetearyl alcohol or myristyl myristate, can also have a comedogenic effect. They are often obtained from palm oil. Common emulsifiers also damage your skin by emulsifying with the skin's own fats, dissolving the skin barrier and being washed out of the skin barrier the next time it comes into contact with water. Common emulsifiers dry out the skin and encourage blemishes such as pimples. -
Less is more
Make sure that your facial care is free of fragrances, preservatives and sulfates. These ingredients have an increased allergenic potential. Alcohol also irritates and irritates sensitive skin. -
Avoid peelings and skin-peeling products
Mechanical and chemical peels promote skin irritation, weaken the skin barrier, dry out your skin and worsen the symptoms of rosacea. -
High sun protection
Protect your skin from sun exposure: Use a sunscreen with a high SPF and wear a hat or sunglasses if necessary. -
shower with only lukewarm water
Avoid extreme temperatures, both cold and hot, to avoid further irritating your skin. If possible, only shower with lukewarm water, as hot baths or sauna visits make the redness worse. -
Soothing and regenerating ingredients
To relieve rosacea, use only hypoallergenic facial care products with soothing and regenerating ingredients such as aloe vera, green tea, licorice, niacinamide, chamomile, magnolia bark or oat beta-glucan.
We hope these tips help you manage your rosacea. Remember that everyone's skin is different and what works for another person may not necessarily work for you.
A valuable tool that we would like to recommend is a rosacea diary for daily entries. These concern your current skin condition, your current symptoms, your diet, weather influences, the skin care you use, possible triggers of a rosacea flare-up and medications you take.

Clean
For daily facial cleansing in the morning and evening, we recommend the Grape Seed Cleansing Cream, either as a facial cleanser on its own or in combination with the skin-friendly Deep Cleansing Gel to thoroughly remove waterproof makeup. This emulsifier-free cleanser removes impurities, dirt and light makeup gently and reliably without surfactants. Make sure the water is only lukewarm to gently wash the cleanser off your face.
toning
Then apply the Magnolia Toner Sensitive to soothe your skin and provide it with additional moisture. The facial toner prepares the skin for subsequent care. To ensure that the moisturizer can penetrate deeply into the tissue, the toner is applied to the face after cleansing but before the serum.
Moisturize & Improve Skin
Provide your skin with plenty of deep-acting moisture. The Deep Hydrating Hyaluron Serum 300 promotes the skin's own production of collagen, inhibits inflammation and improves skin elasticity.
Our Niacinamide Serum is also highly recommended for rosacea. The skin-friendly serum with 12% niacinamide promotes skin regeneration. It counteracts blemishes and redness. The niacinamide complex strengthens the protective barrier and ensures a more even, smoother complexion with refined pores.
Calm
The Magnolia Calming Serum based on organic aloe vera gel is usually sufficient as a light facial care product instead of a day cream in summer.
In winter, the active ingredient serum is enriched with the grape seed day cream on top.
In general, products for rosacea facial care should not be too greasy. The active ingredient complex of the Magnolia Calming Serum, made from green tea and licorice root extract, calms and improves the condition of rosacea skin after just a few applications. Cold-pressed grape seed oil strengthens the connective tissue, while beta-glucan from oats strengthens the skin barrier and antioxidant-effective magnolia bark inhibits inflammation.
Protect
As sun protection, we recommend the Protective Sunshine Day Oil M for sensitive combination skin. This purely plant-based sun protection with SPF 30 (not declarable according to the EU Cosmetics Regulation) is free of mineral particles. Instead, it is based on cold-pressed karanja oil, which absorbs harmful UVA and UVB radiation. The active ingredient Pongamol acts as a powerful natural UV protection booster.
