Facial cleansing with double cleansing
Facial cleansing is one of the most important steps in daily facial care. To keep your skin healthy and radiantly beautiful, it is important to remove makeup residue, dirt particles and harmful environmental pollutants such as fine dust. We show you 3 different options for effective double cleansing, adapted to the different skin needs.
Why combined cleaning?
There may not be just one suitable facial cleanser for your skin type and your individual requirements. We therefore highly recommend double cleansing, the combination of two different facial cleansers that complement each other perfectly.
With double cleansing, the first step is to remove all residues from the skin. The second step is to really cleanse the skin down to the pores. If you use cleansing products without irritating fragrances, you don't need an additional makeup remover for your eyes.
What is double cleansing?
The combined facial cleansing method originates from Japan. Double cleansing is especially useful if you want to remove waterproof make-up, stubborn sunscreen and lipstick. Even if you live in a city with high levels of air pollution, where fine dust particles can clog your pores, attack the skin barrier and accelerate skin aging, a two-stage cleansing is worthwhile.
Double Cleansing for sensitive and dry skin
Sensitive and dry skin tends to be irritated and itchy. Therefore, you should use mild and nourishing products for double cleansing. In the first step, remove makeup and mineral sunscreen with a cleansing oil, which you then wash off with water. As a second step, a cleansing cream is ideal for gently removing sebum and dirt from dry and sensitive skin.
Double Cleansing for Oily and Impure Skin
Even for oily skin that is prone to blemishes, a cleansing oil with anti-comedogenic ingredients is ideal as a first step - even if this seems incomprehensible at first. Since fats are best dissolved by oil, this also applies to the removal of excess sebum.
After washing off the cleansing oil, a cleansing gel is recommended as a second step for deep pore cleansing. To do this, gently massage a small amount of the Deep Cleansing Gel into damp skin using circular movements. The gel-like texture turns into a soft, creamy foam when combined with water. Then remove the gel with plenty of lukewarm water and finally pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
Double cleansing for oil-sensitive combination skin such as rosacea
If you have rosacea-sensitive combination skin, you should avoid products that contain a lot of oil. Therefore, the Grape Seed Cleansing Cream is recommended as a first step if you don't need to remove waterproof make-up or sunscreen. Then the Cleansing Gel ensures deep pore cleansing.
5 common mistakes when cleansing your face
You should definitely avoid these mistakes when cleansing the face of sensitive skin:
-
Cleaning too often
You should clean your facial skin thoroughly in the morning and evening. However, not more often so as not to upset your skin's balance. -
Additional peelings
Peelings dry out sensitive skin, they weaken the skin barrier, and promote itching, redness and micro-inflammations. -
Microfiber cloths or hard towels
After cleansing, avoid rubbing your face dry with a hard towel or microfiber cloth. Instead, gently pat your face dry with a soft, clean towel. It's important to always use a clean, freshly washed towel - especially if you suffer from blemishes. -
Clean face with soap
Do not put your face in contact with regular soap. The harsh surfactants and the alkaline pH value destroy the acid mantle and weaken the skin barrier. Dry skin, redness and itching are the result. -
Hot water
Avoid high water temperatures when cleaning your face, as hot water removes the skin's own oils, damages the skin barrier, dehydrates the skin and can lead to red veins. You're on the right track with lukewarm water.
