Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil) - Certified Organic
Tea tree oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the tea tree. The tea tree belongs to the myrtle family and has nothing to do with the shrub whose leaves we use for "black" or "green" tea. There are over 300 different tea tree species of the genus native to Australia from which essential oil can be extracted. However, the outstanding healing properties as a powerful antiseptic only relate to the botanical species we use, Melaleuca alternifolia.
The Australian aborigines already used the generally well-tolerated oil as a versatile emergency medicine because of its pain-reducing, anti-inflammatory and cell-regenerating properties against bacteria, fungi and viruses. To this day, the stimulating and nerve-strengthening tea tree oil is successfully used in natural medicine against skin problems such as pimples, acne, wounds, insect bites, head lice, athlete's foot or gum problems.
