rapeseed oil
Rapeseed oil ( Brassica Campestris Seed Oil ) - Controlled organic cultivation
The cold-pressed rapeseed oil we use from a small oil mill comes from regionally and organically grown rapeseed from Germany. Virgin organic rapeseed oil is cold-pressed purely mechanically using spindle presses at low temperatures of under 40 degrees. It is not refined, decoloured or deodorised, so that all of the valuable ingredients are retained. Around 2.3 kg of rapeseed are needed to produce one litre of rapeseed oil.
The quality of the oil depends on the quality of the oilseed. Native rapeseed oil contains a variety of secondary plant substances with antioxidant properties, particularly vitamins A, E and K. Rapeseed oil has a mild, typically nutty taste and a natural golden yellow color.
- Rapeseed oil inhibits inflammation, it has a high content of unsaturated essential fatty acids, especially about 20% linoleic acid and about 9 - 14% of the polyunsaturated, essential α-linolenic acid (Omega-3).
- Rapeseed oil is considered anti-comedogenic, which means it is also suitable against skin blemishes, pimples and acne.
- Rapeseed oil is rich in minerals, it contains cell-protecting vitamin E, vitamin K, antioxidant carotenoids (provitamin A) and secondary plant substances that prevent premature skin aging.
- Rapeseed oil makes dry skin supple and protects against cell-damaging free radicals.
- Rapeseed oil contains sinapinic acid, which acts as an organic UV filter in the plant.
