Introduction / Brief description
Pentylene glycol is a multifunctional ingredient of plant origin that is used in a variety of modern natural cosmetics. It intensively moisturizes the skin, has antimicrobial properties, and improves the absorption of other active ingredients. In our natural cosmetics, we use exclusively pentylene glycol from sustainably cultivated GMO-free corn and sugarcane bagasse .
Origin & Production
Pentylene Glycol is biotechnologically produced from plant sugars – from non-GMO corn and the fibrous residue of sugar cane (bagasse). It is therefore a sustainable, palm oil-free alternative to petrochemically derived humectants. Chemically, it belongs to the dihydric alcohols (diols), but unlike ethanol, it has a non-drying, hydrating, and non-irritating effect.
Effect on the skin
- Moisturizing: As a humectant, Pentylene Glycol binds water in the skin and ensures a smooth, cared-for skin feeling.
