Ascorbyl Glucoside - Vitamin C
Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stable compound between vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and glucose. Pure ascorbic acid is not suitable for sensitive skin, as it must be formulated with a very acidic pH value of 3 - 3.5 and is therefore irritating to the skin. Pure vitamin C is also extremely susceptible to oxidation from air and UV radiation. It becomes ineffective as soon as it decomposes in the air. The vitamin C derivative we use is processed in skin-neutral, i.e. slightly acidic formulations, thus stabilizing the skin's own acid protection. The skin's own enzymes first break down the derivative within the skin , so that very good effectiveness and excellent tolerability are achieved.
Ascorbyl Glucoside acts as one of the most powerful antioxidants. It delays the aging process of skin cells and promotes the formation of collagen and elastic fibers. The vitamin C derivative protects against UV-induced cell damage. It smoothes the skin, promotes the healing process and helps to lighten pigment spots, age spots and acne marks, especially in combination with vitamin B3 (niacinamide).
