Pentylene Glycol is a plant-based moisturizer with antimicrobial properties. It inhibits the growth of microorganisms on the skin as well as in cosmetics. In addition, pentylene glycol has the ability to channel active ingredients deeper into the skin. From a chemical point of view, this multifunctional hydrator belongs to the group of dihydric alcohols (diols). The pentylene glycol we use is certified natural cosmetics and is sustainably produced from sugar cane and corn.
Due to its dual function - moisturizer plus preservation booster - Pentylene Glycol is not a preservative according to the EU Cosmetics Regulation. For this reason, products that do without the usual preservatives (such as parabens) and are made durable with pentylene glycol are declared "free from preservatives".
